Rainfall Warning in effect for:
  • Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall. What: Rain, at times heavy. Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm. Locally higher amounts are possible if thunderstorms repeatedly impact the same area. When: Through early Thursday morning. Additional information: With thunderstorms expected, rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm over some areas, particularly over southwestern Ontario. Rain will end from west to east overnight into early Thursday morning. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. FREEZING RAIN WARNING

Freezing Rain Warning in effect for:
  • Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County

Freezing rain expected today. What: Freezing rain with ice accretion of 4 to 8 mm on some surfaces. When: Through this evening. Additional information: This freezing rain event will not be nearly as significant as the ice storm from this past weekend. Freezing rain has begun near Lake Huron and will reach central Ontario later this afternoon. Precipitation may begin as snow and ice pellets. Easterly winds gusting to 50 to 60 km/h may exacerbate any tree damage. As temperatures rise above the freezing mark, freezing rain will transition to rain over southwestern Ontario this afternoon and across central Ontario this evening. For locations over the Dundalk Highlands and Niagara Escarpment, freezing rain may linger into early evening. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
