WINTER STORM WARNING

Winter Storm Warning in effect for:
  • Niagara Falls - Welland - Southern Niagara Region

Significant winter storm this weekend. What: Additional snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm. Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. Slippery surfaces and light ice build-up from freezing rain. When: Continuing today and ending this evening. The heaviest snow is expected this morning. Additional information: Conditions will rapidly deteriorate this morning as a more significant area of snow and blowing snow arrives. Freezing rain or ice pellets may mix in with snow at times, especially for areas near Lake Erie, which will impact total snowfall accumulations. Travel is not recommended. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to getprepared.gc.ca. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
