STORM SURGE WARNING

Higher than normal water levels and large waves are expected near the coast this evening. The combination of - strong to high northeasterly winds - a major surge - and a period of medium tidal range could produce breaking sea conditions along the coast this evening in some areas of the Gaspé Peninsula tip. Additional information: A major low pressure system continues to intensify over the Maritimes. Buildings located in areas prone to storm surges could be flooded. Flooding is possible along the coastline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

Rain and snow continue to fall. What: - Rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres near the shoreline of the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. - Snowfall amounts near 10 centimetres over higher terrain. - Strong northeasterly winds When: through Sunday evening. The strongest winds will persist until overnight tonight. Additional information: precipitation type will vary from rain to snow depending on elevation and proximity to the shoreline. Higher terrain will mostly receive snow, while coastal regions will mainly see rain. However, even the shoreline could see periods of snow, depending on local temperature variations.
