Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: locally 40 mm per hour in thunderstorms. Potential wind gusts: near 90 km/h in thunderstorms. Potential hail: 1 to 2 cm. Time span: this afternoon until late this evening. Remarks: Thunderstorms, with potential to become severe, are expected to develop ahead of an approaching cold front. There is also a slight risk of a tornado. Watches may need to be expanded further east as the situation develops. Be sure to watch for changing skies as storms can intensify quickly. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. How to use
  • Add to shortcuts
    • Go to the desired page on the site, open the Weather shortcuts menu and click on the "Add to shortcuts" button

    • Use the Tab key to move to a button or link
    • Use the Enter key to click on buttons or links
    • Organize shortcuts navigation
      • Use the ↑ Up key to select the link above. If none are selected, it will select the first link.
      • Use the ↓ Down key to select the link below. If none are selected, it will select the last link.
      • Use the Page Up key to move a selection up in the list.
      • Use the Page Down key to move a selection down in the list.
  • Restore default list
