2 WEATHER ALERTS
WINTER STORM WARNING

Highly impactful winter storm this weekend. What: Additional snowfall accumulations of 15 to 25 cm. Locally higher amounts are possible over the Niagara Escarpment and Dundalk Highlands. Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 5 cm per hour. Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. When: Continuing today and ending this evening. The heaviest snow is expected this morning. Additional information: Conditions will rapidly deteriorate this morning as a more significant area of snow and blowing snow arrives. Travel will be hazardous and is not recommended. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to getprepared.gc.ca. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. In effect for:
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County
SNOW SQUALL WATCH

Lake effect snow squalls expected. What: Total snowfall accumulations of 30 to 60 cm. The highest amounts are possible if a snow squall remains stationary over a given location. Near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. When: Beginning this evening and continuing through Tuesday. Additional information: Snow squalls are expected to quickly develop off of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay in the wake of this weekend's winter storm. Gusty winds combined with freshly fallen snow will lead to blowing snow and drifting snow, significantly reducing visibility and making driving conditions hazardous. Near blizzard conditions in squalls cannot be ruled out. There remains uncertainty with the exact positioning of snow squalls, and thus which regions will receive the highest amounts. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #ONStorm.
