FREEZING RAIN WARNING

Freezing rain expected tonight into early Thursday morning. What: Freezing rain with ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm on some surfaces. When: Tonight through early Thursday morning. Additional information: This freezing rain event will not be nearly as significant as the ice storm from this past weekend. Snow and ice pellets will advance northeastward this evening before transitioning to freezing rain tonight. Prior to the transition to freezing rain, snowfall amounts up to 5 cm may occur over some locations. Easterly winds gusting to near 50 km/h may exacerbate any tree damage. As temperatures rise above the freezing mark, freezing rain will transition to rain overnight into early Thursday morning. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. RAINFALL WARNING

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall. What: Rain, at times heavy. Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm. Locally higher amounts are possible if thunderstorms repeatedly impact the same area. When: This evening through Thursday morning. Additional information: Rain will advance northeastward this evening. With thunderstorms expected, rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm over some areas. Rain will end from west to east Thursday morning. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
