SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

At 3:32 PM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. A line of severe thunderstorms has developed from west of Pineville to Southampton. This line of storms is moving east-southeast at near 35 km/h. Radar indicates 2 cm hail is possible and near 100 km/h wind gusts. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
