At 3:00 a.m. NDT today trough from low located on a line
northwest-southeast over western Funk Island Bank.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Friday trough located from the low to Cabot Strait.
At 3:00 a.m. NDT today quasi-stationary ridge located over northern
Labrador Coast.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:53 AM NDT 2 May 2024 A low pressure system southeast of the Grand Banks will remain nearlystationary throughout the forecast period. A trough extending from
the low will retrograde southwestward across Newfoundland today.
The trough combined with a strong ridge of high pressure north of the
district will cause strong to gale force northeasterlies across
northern and western waters today and Friday.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle and Gulf waters.
