Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM NST 9 February 2016 Tonight and Wednesday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight dissipating low 988 mb located near the
Burin Peninsula.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight trough from 988 mb low located on a line
northeast-southwest over southeastern Newfoundland.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday quasi-stationary trough located from
the Gulf of St. Lawrence to Funk Island Bank.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight low 989 mb located south of Nova Scotia.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Wednesday low 973 mb located over Funk Island Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:59 PM NST 9 February 2016 An intense low pressure system near the Burin Peninsula will
dissipate as it moves over the island this evening. Strong to gale
force northeasterlies ahead of the trough associated with this system
will persist into Wednesday morning. Gale to storm force
southwesterlies over the southern coastal waters will diminish this
evening as the low dissipates.

Meanwhile a second low will approach from the southwest tonight and
cross the Avalon Peninsula early Wednesday to lie over Funk Island
Bank Wednesday afternoon. Gale to storm force south to
southwesterlies are forecast to develop to the southeast of the low
with gale force westerlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
the Southwest Coast and the Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect
for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast and the
Belle Isle Bank.
