Strong winds that may cause damage are expected. Hazard: Severe wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h. Location: Southwestern Saskatchewan. Timing: Beginning overnight Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon. Remarks: A strong cold front surging south through the province will bring strong to severe northwesterly winds with gusts as high as 90 to 100 km/h beginning overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The strong winds combined with pockets of flurry activity will lead to areas of near-zero visibilities in blowing snow. Conditions will improve Wednesday afternoon. Local utility outages are possible. Driving conditions will likely be difficult. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. Secure loose objects. Brief, intense snowfall is expected to develop. Under the snow squall, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow. Hazard: Poor visibilities in snow squalls. Location: West-central and southwestern Saskatchewan. Timing: Beginning overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Remarks: Narrow bands of intense flurries will be possible in the wake of a strong cold front surging south through the province. The intense flurries combined with strong northwesterly winds will lead to areas of near-zero visibilities in falling and blowing snow. Travel may be hazardous. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Snow squall watches are issued when localized, intense snowfall causing rapid accumulation and/or reduced visibility is possible.
