2:29 PM EST Monday 19 February 2018
Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Deep River - Whitney - Eastern Algonquin Park
  • Western Algonquin Park - Lake of Two Rivers

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Significant rainfall on the way beginning this evening.

A warm front associated with a low pressure area will move through the region tonight, bringing a significant amount of rain with it. With temperatures near zero degrees at times, some freezing rain is also possible overnight.

Latest indication suggest up to 25 mm of rain may fall by Tuesday morning, meeting Environment Canada's criterion for rainfall warning when the ground is frozen.

Further rainfall is expected Tuesday and Tuesday night as the warm front stalls very close to the region before coming to an end early Wednesday.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
