Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

  • Gjoa Haven

A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills continues. The coldest wind chill values will be between minus 55 and minus 60.

Temperatures near minus 40 Celsius with moderate winds will continue to create wind chill values near minus 55 today. With slightly colder overnight low temperatures tonight wind chill values are expected to be near minus 60.

These extreme cold wind chills are forecast to persist until midweek.

Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Check on older family, friends and neighbours.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
