Special weather statement in effect for:
A major storm will track through Hudson Bay Sunday through Monday, bringing poor weather to all of the Kivalliq region and parts of the Qikiqtaaluk. Coastal Kivalliq will continue to see rain or snow tonight, accompanied by strong southerly winds. Rain or snow will continue on Sunday, with winds gradually shifting to the north and temperatures falling as the system intensifies rapidly over Hudson Bay. Near-blizzard conditions can be expected in much of coastal Kivalliq Sunday evening as northwest winds up to 80 gusting 110 km/h combined with falling snow are forecast.
The storm will also affect southern Baffin Island Sunday night, with rain and southeast winds gusting to 80 km/h expected. The precipitation will remain as snow over northern Baffin Island and the Melville Peninsula.
