Alerts for: Upper Lake Melville

Special weather statement in effect for:
- Upper Lake Melville
Significant snowfall is expected over central Labrador and the mid coast Wednesday night and Thursday.
A low pressure system is forecast to track across southeastern Labrador Wednesday night into Thursday morning, bringing snow to central Labrador and snow at times mixed with rain to Cartwright. Snow is expected to begin over the Churchill Valley region on Wednesday afternoon and spread eastward through the night. In some places, total snowfall accumulations may exceed 20 cm before the snow tapers off Thursday afternoon or evening.
At this time, there is significant uncertainty in the track and intensity of this system and it is not yet known which regions will see the highest snowfall amounts. A shift towards the west could prolong the duration of the event and bring a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain further inland, while an increase in intensity would bring higher snowfall amounts to most areas.
