Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Bay of Exploits

Potential for significant freezing rain and rain.

Rainfall amounts: 5 to 15 mm.

Locations: central and northeastern Newfoundland.

Timespan: overnight tonight to Monday afternoon.

Remarks: Precipitation will begin as freezing rain overnight tonight in central and early Monday morning in the northeast. The freezing rain has the potential to persist for several hours before transitioning to rain by Monday afternoon. The rain is expected to taper off early Monday evening.

The rainfall will be accompanied by above zero temperatures over northeastern Newfoundland. Areas with deep existing snow pack will be vulnerable to snowmelt and water runoff, with localized flooding possible.

Where possible, the public is advised to clear storm drains prior to the rain in order to aid in water drainage.
