Special weather statement in effect for:
- Bay of Exploits
Wet weather expected early this week.
Rain will spread across most of Newfoundland on Monday ahead of a low pressure system approaching from the southwest. The rain is expected to become heavy at times in some areas Monday night. Current guidance indicates the potential for rainfall amounts to meet or exceed warning criteria Monday night into Tuesday over some areas. However, as this system is still in its early stages of development, there remains some uncertainty in the exact locations of the heaviest rainfall.
Additionally, parts of central and western Newfoundland could see the rain becoming mixed with or changing over to wet snow overnight Monday night. Motorists are advised to prepare for adverse driving conditions if planning any travel Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Meteorologists at Environment and Climate Change Canada will continue to monitor this system and provide updates as new information becomes available.
