Wind warning in effect for:

  • Burgeo - Ramea

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

A swath of strong southerly winds gusting to between 80 and 100 km/h will develop over southwestern Newfoundland early Tuesday morning then spread quickly eastward across the Island during the day. These winds will be followed by a more prolonged period of strong southwesterlies gusting to between 80 and 110 km/h. Winds will gradually diminish overnight Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Burgeo - Ramea

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Rainfall amounts of up to 60 mm are expected overnight and Tuesday.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
