Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Haines Road - Yukon border to Pleasant Camp

Heavy snowfall with blowing snow is expected.

A strong Pacific frontal system will move onto the Alaskan Panhandle this evening spreading heavy snow over the Haines Road and the Klondike Highway.

The section of the Haines Road near Pleasant Camp is expected to see the heaviest snowfall with amounts up to 35 cm by Sunday afternoon.

Along the south Klondike Highway, the area near White Pass could see up to 25 cm by Sunday afternoon.

Areas of blowing snow giving reducing visibility are also likely along both routes tonight.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
