At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight intensifying low 985 mb located near the
Great Northern Peninsula.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:16 AM AST 22 November 2018 An intensifying low pressure system over Eastern Nova Scotia will
track northeastward to lie over Newfoundland this afternoon. Strong
to gale force westerly winds are forecast in the vicinity of the low
as it moves through the district. Gale force northwesterly winds will
develop behind the low and will usher in an unseasonably cold air
mass that will bring freezing spray over northern and Atlantic
coastal regions today.
The disturbance is forecast to stall over Northern Newfoundland
overnight and continue to intensify throughout the day on Friday
increasing northwesterly gales to storm force over Cabot Strait and
northeastern regions of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Cabot Strait, Gulf Magdalen - northeastern half and Anticosti.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters. Freezing spray
warnings are in effect for Fundy, Grand Manan, Lurcher, southwestern
shore, eastern shore, Fourchu, Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait,
Gulf Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti.
Outlook for the start of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery:
Sunday...Winds variable 10 to 15 knots increasing to east 15 to 20 in
the afternoon and to east 20 to 25 in the evening.
Monday...Winds east 20 to 25 knots increasing to easterly 30 in the
