Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM NST 6 March 2026 Tonight and Saturday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight trough located east of the Marine District.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Saturday departing trough located east of the
Marine District.

At 3:30 p.m. NST Saturday approaching trough located on a line
northeast-southwest over Quebec.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Saturday ridge located southeast of the Grand
Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:48 PM NST 6 March 2026 A trough of low pressure east of the marine district will slowly move
eastward tonight while a ridge of high pressure approaches the
district from the southwest. Strong to gale force northwesterlies
over northeastern waters between these two features will gradually
diminish as the trough moves away and the ridge of high pressure
approaches.

A second trough of low pressure will approach the marine district
from the west on Saturday. Strong to gale force southwesterlies will
develop ahead of the trough.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast - north of Cape St.
Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast,
Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
