Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 PM NST 14 December 2017 Tonight and Friday At 4:00 p.m. NST today quasi-stationary low 963 mb located over
northern Labrador.

At 4:00 p.m. NST today intensifying low 995 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Friday low 960 mb located over the southern East
Labrador Sea.

At 4:00 p.m. NST today trough from 963 mb low located on a line
east-west over the South Labrador Sea.
By 9:30 p.m. NST tonight departing trough located on a line
northeast-southwest over northern Labrador Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:51 PM NST 14 December 2017 An intense low pressure system over Northern Labrador will slowly
meander as it begins to weaken tonight and Friday. Gale to storm
force easterlies ahead of a trough associated with this system will
shift to strong to gale force southerlies in its wake.

A second intensifying low will approach from the southwest to reach
the East Labrador Sea by Friday afternoon, then move northwestward to
merge with the remnants of the first low on Friday night. Gale to
storm force southerlies will increase over southern and eastern
waters on Friday afternoon as this system crosses the East Labrador
Sea.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
North Labrador Coast and the Labrador Sea. Gale warnings are in
effect for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the East Labrador Sea.
