Issued 9:30 PM NST 4 February 2023 Tonight and Sunday At 9:30 p.m. NST tonight trough located on a linenortheast-southwest over Belle Isle Bank.
By 9:30 a.m. NST Sunday merging trough located south of Greenland.
At 9:30 p.m. NST tonight low 948 mb located over the southern East
Labrador Sea.
By 9:30 a.m. NST Sunday merging low 954 mb located south of
Greenland.
At 4:00 p.m. NST Sunday low 980 mb located southeast of Greenland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:35 PM NST 4 February 2023 A complex and intense area of low pressure will continue to affectthe Labrador Sea tonight. A trough of low pressure over the Belle
Isle Bank will merge with a low pressure system over the East
Labrador Sea. The merged low will then move east of the marine
district on Sunday.
Storm to hurricane force northerlies can be expected to the north of
these features, with gale to storm force southwesterlies to their
south. Winds will diminish to gale to storm force northwesterlies
tonight in its wake and further weaken to strong to gale force west
to southwesterlies throughout the day on Sunday as it departs.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warning is in
effect for South Labrador Coast. Storm warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters except Lake Melville, North Labrador Coast and
Northwest Labrador Sea - northwestern half where gale warnings are in
effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Labrador Sea.
