HIGHWAY 97 - PINE PASS
YELLOW WARNING - FREEZING RAIN

Impact Level: Moderate

Forecast Confidence: High

What: Patchy freezing rain. Where: Williston and Highway 97 through Pine Pass. When: Tonight into early Monday morning. Additional information: A frontal system will cross northern B.C. tonight, bringing mild air aloft. This, combined with cold valley bottom temperatures will create patchy freezing rain. Strong and gusty southerly winds will cause precipitation to change to rain Monday morning, particularly south of Pine Pass. Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Be very careful if walking or driving. The site shiftintowinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #BCStorm. For more information about the alerting program, please visit: Colour-coded Weather Alerts.
