ORANGE WARNING - COLD

Impact Level: High

Forecast Confidence: High

A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills is expected. Hazard: Wind chill values of -40 to -45. Location: Southern Saskatchewan Timing: Ongoing into the weekend Remarks: A cold and windy air mass has moved into Saskatchewan, bringing falling temperatures and wind chill values dropping into the -40 to -45 range. Wind chill values may improve slightly during daytime hours, but are expected to drop back below -40 each night for the next several nights. Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside. Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks to warm up. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to SKstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #SKStorm.
