ORANGE WARNING - SNOWFALL

Impact Level: High

Forecast Confidence: High

Snowfall with total amounts of 25 to 35 cm is expected. Heavy snowfall is expected for much of southern Saskatchewan beginning on Tuesday afternoon. A low pressure system will produce an area of heavy snow stretching from Prince Albert southeastward to Estevan. Total snowfall accumulations are likely to be in the 25-35 cm range by Thursday morning. The snow will taper off through the night on Wednesday. Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Road closures are possible. Utility outages are likely. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Non-essential travel should be avoided. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to snowfall accumulations. Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected in some locations. Falling snow combined with strong easterly wind gusts of up to 70 km/h will reduce visibility in blowing snow through southern Saskatchewan beginning overnight Monday. These strong winds will spread eastward Tuesday morning. The winds will begin to diminish Tuesday evening. Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Blowing snow advisories are issued when widespread poor visibility in blowing snow is expected.
