2 WEATHER ALERTS
YELLOW ADVISORY - BLOWING SNOW

Impact Level: Moderate

Forecast Confidence: High

Snow and strong winds will lead to poor visibility in blowing snow. Locations: Bonavista North. Total snowfall: 15 to 20 cm. Maximum wind gusts Monday morning and early afternoon: easterly 70 km/h. Maximum wind gusts Monday evening until Tuesday morning: northwesterly 100 to 120 km/h. Total time span: Monday morning to Tuesday morning. Remarks: Conditions will deteriorate as strengthening winds combine with fresh snowfall to cause widespread blowing snow. Visibility will improve for a few hours Monday afternoon and early evening as temperatures rise above zero and the snow is expected to mix with, or change to, rain. However, blowing snow and poor visibility will redevelop Monday evening as temperatures fall and snow re-enters the region combined with intense northwesterly winds. Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility. Blowing snow advisories are issued when widespread poor visibility in blowing snow is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NLstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #NLwx. For more information about the alerting program, please visit: Colour-coded Weather Alerts.

  • Bonavista North
COASTAL FLOODING STATEMENT

Significant storm surge and wave activity is possible. Locations: the northeast coast of Newfoundland from Green Bay to Bonavista Bay. Time span: late Monday evening until Tuesday morning. Most significant effects near high tide. Maximum wave heights: 7 to 9 metres, breaking upon approach to shore. High tide: 4:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. Tuesday morning. Remarks: The potential exists for coastal waters to significantly exceed the highest astronomical tide when storm surge combines with strong wave action near high tide. A combination of surge and wave action could cause localized flood damage along parts of the coast. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NLstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #NLwx. For more information about the alerting program, please visit: Colour-coded Weather Alerts.
