- Inland Vancouver Island
Strong winds and heavy rain are likely. Where: West Vancouver Island, Inland Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands, and East Vancouver Island. When: Overnight tonight and Monday. Hazards and impacts: - Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. - Clear storm drains of leaves and debris - High winds may cause tree branches to break and lead to power outages. Remarks: A potent storm system is forecast to impact the south coast beginning tonight. A relatively short but intense episode of rain is expected to begin tonight. Peak rainfall intensities are expected after midnight and early Monday morning. Early indications call for 70 to 100 mm of rain over the mountainous terrain of west Vancouver Island. Lesser amounts of rainfall are expected elsewhere across the region. Strong south to south-east winds will also develop overnight before becoming very strong west to northwest winds on Monday. Some inland west-to-east oriented valleys will also likely see strong westerly winds.
