Rain, at times heavy, is expected. What: Rainfall amounts 60 mm to 80 mm. When: Today. Where: Manning - Skagit Valley, Hwy 3 - Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass, Coquihalla Hwy - Hope to Merritt. Remarks: A strong frontal system is bringing significant rain to the region. Heavy rain will continue today with freezing levels rising to 2500 metres by this afternoon. Strong and gusty southerly winds this morning shift to southwesterly this afternoon. The rain is expected to ease early this evening as the system moves off. Localized flooding is likely. Some roads may become impassable. Travel delays and/or cancellations are likely. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, deforested areas or recent burn scars. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Don't drive through flooded roadways. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. Moderate to strong winds this afternoon What: Wind gusts ranging from 70-90 km/h When: This afternoon into this evening Where: - South Thompson - Nicola - Coquihalla Highway (Merritt to Kamloops) - Okanagan Connector Additional information: A strong low pressure system will be moving across Southern BC this afternoon, likely bringing southwest winds with gusts of 70-90 km/h to the region. Merritt may not see winds as strong as the rest of the region as it is sheltered. The winds are expected to pick up this afternoon and weaken by late evening. Local utility outages are possible. Secure loose objects. Exercise caution when driving in crosswind prone areas. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
