Special Weather Statement in effect for:
  • Bonavista Peninsula

Significant rainfall and strong winds are expected. Location: central, northeastern, and eastern Newfoundland. Time span: late overnight tonight until Wednesday afternoon. Potential wind gusts: south to southeasterly 80 to 100 km/h, except up to 120 along parts of the coast; shifting to south to southwesterly 80 to 100 km/h. Potential total rainfall: 40 to 60 mm. Remarks: A developing weather system is expected to bring a period of prolonged and significant rainfall. There still remains some uncertainty as to where the highest rainfall amounts will occur and warnings may be required for some areas. Monitor ferry, transit, or flight schedules in case of delays or disruptions. Clear storm drains and gutters of leaves and other debris in advance of the rainfall.
