Snow squalls are occurring. Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Locations: the west coast of Newfoundland from Port aux Basques to Hawke's Bay. Total snowfall: 10 to 20 cm, with locally higher amounts possible under the heaviest snow squall bands. Maximum wind gusts: west to northwesterly 80 to 100 km/h, except 100 to 120 along parts of the coast. Time span: today and tonight. Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Snow squall warnings are issued when localized, intense snowfall causing rapid accumulation and/or visibility near zero is expected.
