YELLOW ADVISORY - BLOWING SNOW

Impact Level: Moderate

Forecast Confidence: High

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected in some locations. Fresh snowfall and strong winds will combine to cause poor visibility in blowing snow. Locations: Burgeo - Ramea. Total snowfall: 5 to 10 cm (this afternoon through this evening). Maximum wind gusts: northerly 70 km/h (strongest this evening). Remarks: Snow will accumulate for a few hours before winds begin to increase. Conditions are expected to deteriorate once the strengthening winds combine with cold temperatures and fresh snowfall, resulting in widespread blowing snow. Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility. Blowing snow advisories are issued when widespread poor visibility in blowing snow is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NLstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #NLwx.
