2 WEATHER ALERTS
FREEZING RAIN WARNING
- Montmagny - Saint-Jean-Port-Joli area
Poor driving conditions. What: Freezing rain giving up to 2 millimetres of ice accretion. When: Overnight tonight into Wednesday morning. Where: Charlevoix, Lower St. Lawrence, inland areas of the Gaspé Peninsula. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to QCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #QCStorm.
RAINFALL WARNING
- Montmagny - Saint-Jean-Port-Joli area
Heavy rain on tap. What: Rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 millimetres are expected. When: Beginning Wednesday morning and continuing into Thursday morning. Where: Côte-du-Sud, Kamouraska, and Témiscouata. Additional information: An intense low pressure system will bring rain to Quebec. As the ground is frozen and has a reduced ability to absorb moisture, significant amounts of water could accumulate on roads and in other areas. A significant rise in the flow and level of some rivers is also quite possible. After that, temperatures are expected to drop early Thursday morning possibly leading to flash freezing of ponded water. Roads may become slippery, causing difficult travel conditions and transportation delays. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to QCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #QCStorm.
