Dangerous thunderstorms this afternoon and evening may be capable of producing severe wind gusts, a tornado, and heavy rain. What: Severe wind gusts up to 110 km/h. An isolated tornado is possible. Heavy downpours. When: This afternoon into this evening. Additional information: Those in exposed areas, such as campers, hikers, or anyone without access to sturdy shelter are at greater risk from lightning, strong winds, and heavy rain. Do not wait until the storm is overhead. Move to safety as soon as you hear thunder. Utility outages are possible. Significant damage to property, buildings and trees is possible. There is a risk of serious injury. Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Secure loose objects. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.
