WEATHER ADVISORY
- Windsor - Leamington - Essex County
Winter weather travel advisory in effect. Hazards: Snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm. Poor visibility in bursts of heavy snow. Timing: Late evening into the overnight period. Discussion: Bands of lake effect snow off Lake Huron are expected to develop later this evening and shift eastward through the regions as the night progresses. Snow may fall rather heavily at times with rapid accumulations possible. The bands are expected to shift east of the region later tonight, but may stall over portions of Lambton County and the Chatham-Kent area where a snow squall watch is in effect. Snow squall warnings may be issued if the bands become stationary. The bands may extend towards Lake Erie, so travel on Highway 401 may be affected. Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. For road conditions and other traveller information from the Ministry of Transportation, visit ontario.ca/511, twitter.com/511Ontario, or call 5-1-1. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #ONStorm.
