SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

A major late season storm is poised to affect Saskatchewan beginning later today and lasting into the weekend. Precipitation will initially start as rain for portions of western and southern Saskatchewan before transitioning to snow overnight tonight There will be a risk of thunderstorms, especially over southern regions this evening. This will be a prolonged snowfall event, with snow lasting into Saturday. Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm are possible, and even up to 20 in areas from Outlook to Saskatoon to Prince Albert. There will also be a risk of freezing rain tonight and Thursday, particularly over east-central regions of the province. Strong northerly winds will give reduced visibilities in falling snow.
