Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans
  • Ottawa South - Richmond - Metcalfe

Winter returns with a significant snowfall on tap beginning tonight and continuing Tuesday.

A strong and moisture laden low pressure area is forecast to move northeast near the Eastern Seaboard of the United States tonight and Tuesday. This storm track is close enough to Eastern Ontario for a significant snowfall to be an issue Monday night and Tuesday.

Latest indications suggests that snow, possibly heavy at times, will begin later tonight then continue through Tuesday. The snow may be mixed with ice pellets. Snow and ice pellet amounts up to 15 centimetres are expected by the time it winds down Tuesday night.

Snowfall warnings may be required for parts of Eastern Ontario as the snowfall forecast becomes more certain.

Travellers should be aware of accumulating snow and low visibility in snow tonight and Tuesday, and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
