Special weather statement in effect for:
- Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County
- Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County
Halloween brings the first significant snowfall of the season.
A low pressure system developing over Eastern Lake Superior today will track southeast towards the Lower Great Lakes Friday. An area of precipitation associated with this system is expected to begin advancing into Southern Ontario tonight and continue through Friday night.
Precipitation is expected to begin as rain over the Dundalk Highlands late this evening then transition to snow early Friday evening. East of Georgian Bay and over the Haliburton Highlands wet snow or snow will begin overnight and snow will continue through Friday.
Current indications suggest that total local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm will be possible, particularly over areas of higher elevation. However, considerably less snow may accumulate on the ground due to melting. The snow is expected to taper off early Saturday as the low system pulls away to the southeast.
