Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County

Halloween brings the first significant snowfall of the season.

A low pressure system over Southern Ontario will track southeast this evening.

Precipitation that started as rain in regions south of Georgian Bay, including the Dundalk Highlands, and will transition to snow late this evening. East of Georgian Bay, including the Haliburton Highlands, rain or wet snow will transition to accumulating bands of snow this evening and continue tonight.

Current indications suggest that total snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 cm will be possible south of Georgian Bay tonight, particularly over areas of higher elevation. A few centimetres are also possible from areas near Kitchener to Caledon and eastward through York region. To the east of Georgian Bay, total amounts of near 10 cm will be possible by Saturday morning. However actual snowfall accumulation on the ground in these areas may be less due to melting on the still relatively warm ground.

The snow is expected to taper off early Saturday morning as the low system pulls away to the southeast.
