Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Hall Beach

Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and persistent visibility near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

Snow and blowing snow in Cape Dorset is expected to push northward today and move into the Hall Beach/Igloolik area tonight. Blizzard conditions with wind gusts as high as 100 km/h and near-zero visibility in snow and blowing snow can be expected.

Conditions will gradually improve on Tuesday morning in Cape Dorset, but will persist in Hall Beach and Igloolik until early Wednesday morning.

Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/

Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 6 hours.
