Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Clyde River

Long-lasting blizzard conditions with visibility occasionally near zero in snow and/or blowing snow are expected or occurring.

Northwest winds gusting to 80 km/h with falling snow is giving near zero visibility at times to the area this morning. These winds will subside in the afternoon with improving visibility. An approaching low pressure system will however cause even stronger winds later today. Northwest winds gusting to over 100 km/h plus fresh falling snow will combine to give blizard conditions to the area beginning this evening. Conditions will improve Friday during the morning as the winds slowly diminish.

Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. If you do travel and become lost, remain where you are until the blizzard has passed.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can call 1-800-239-0484 or send an email to storm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NUStorm.
