Wind warning in effect for:
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
A low pressure system moving into the Arctic Ocean is generating strong gusty southwesterly winds at Paulatuk. Winds of 60 gusting 90 km/h will continue early this morning. Winds will gradually diminish to 50 gusting to 70 km/h this afternoon. Strong winds will generate blowing snow with visibility frequently below 1 kilometre.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
