Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Yarmouth County

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A slow-moving low pressure system will approach Nova Scotia tonight. Rain will develop over southern Nova Scotia overnight and spread throughout the mainland on Wednesday. Periods of rain are expected to continue into Friday.
The rain will be heavy at times and there is a risk of embedded thundershowers which could cause local heavy downpours. Total rainfall amounts of up to 50 millimetres are forecast by Thursday morning over southwestern Nova Scotia. Further rainfall could bring the totals significantly higher by the end of the week.
Please monitor future forecasts as warnings will likely be extended to other parts of the province.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
