Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Pictou County

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

A cold northwesterly flow has established itself over the region bringing with it frequent flurries. An intense snow squall has set up over the Northumberland Strait affecting parts of Pictou and Antigonish counties. This snow squall could bring localized snowfall amounts in excess of 15 cm tonight. Reduced visibilities in blowing snow are also expected with this line.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
