Alerts for: Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass

Warnings

12:42 AM AST Saturday 06 February 2016
Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A low pressure system will track south of the province tonight. As the low moves eastward temperatures will drop and precipitation will change through ice pellets and freezing rain to snow.

Over northern areas of Nova Scotia snowfall amounts are expected to be highest, with up to 40 cm expected. The combination of snow and freezing rain is the main concern for the areas from northwestern Cape Breton down through Pictou County and into the Annapolis Valley.
Conditions are expected to improve overnight as the low moves well to the east and the snow tapers off.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NSStorm.
