Winter storm warning in effect for:
- Cumberland County - Minas Shore
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
A low pressure system currently east of Cape Hatteras will track northeastward today then pass south of Nova Scotia tonight. Snow associated with this system will develop this afternoon and then taper to flurries Tuesday afternoon. Strong northeast winds combined with the falling snow will result in widespread blowing snow and reduced visibilities. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are currently expected over the region.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NSStorm.
