Warnings

9:35 PM AST Monday 08 February 2016
Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A low pressures system crossing eastern Newfoundland will bring winter storm conditions Tuesday into Tuesday night.

Snow at times heavy giving 15 to 25 cm and strong northeasterly winds gusting between 70 and 90 km/h will combine to reduce visibility in blowing snow beginning Tuesday morning. Blustery conditions are expected to persist into Tuesday night.

A second low will cross eastern Newfoundland overnight Tuesday into Wednesday bringing another round of heavy snow. Although winds may not be as strong, another 5 to 10 cm is possible with this system.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
