Early season snowmelt expected on Sunday.
A low pressure system is forecast to track out of the Great Lakes region and into northern Quebec on Saturday. Snow ahead of this system is forecast to begin Saturday afternoon over western Labrador and quickly spread to the remainder of Labrador Saturday evening. Precipitation will then change to a period of ice pellets and freezing rain for most areas overnight.
On Sunday, precipitation is forecast to change to periods of rain for most areas, with daytime highs reaching a few degrees above zero. The rainfall and unseasonably warm temperatures will cause significant snowmelt throughout the day on Sunday and could lead to pooling of water. Temperatures will then plunge well below freezing Sunday night as a cold front sweeps across the region.
