A winter storm for Monday night into Tuesday.

A low pressure system forecast to develop off the East Coast of the United States early on Monday will intensify as it moves northeastward to cross Newfoundland on Monday night. Current model guidance suggests that significant snowfall, wind and blowing snow will be possible with this system beginning Monday night and persisting through the day on Tuesday. Southeastern areas of Newfoundland are most likely to see a changeover to rain as the system passes over the island.

There is significant uncertainty regarding the exact track and intensity of this low at this time. Environment Canada will continue to monitor the development of this system, providing updates as new information becomes available.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required.
