Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Miramichi and area

Periods of snow expected for today and Sunday.

A complex low pressure system will approach the Maritimes from the south today. Rain developing across New Brunswick this morning is likely to change to or become mixed with snow later this afternoon as cold northeast winds develop during the day. By this evening much of New Brunswick will be experiencing snow occasionally mixed with rain except for the Fundy coast and southeasternmost regions of the province where mostly rain can be expected. As is the case with most early season snowfalls there will be some initial melting making it more difficult to assess snowfall accumulations in the forecast period. There is also some discrepancy between various guidance at this time regarding the location of highest accumulations. Snowfall amounts of about 10 centimetres are likely over central regions of the province by dawn Sunday with northwest regions seeing lesser amounts.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
