Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Mount Carleton - Renous Highway

Blizzard conditions with occasionally near-zero visibility in snow and blowing snow tonight.

Heavy snow, very strong northeasterly winds gusting to 80 km/h will continue to give blizzard conditions with near-zero visibility tonight. Additional snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm are expected. Conditions will begin to imrove this evening over coastal areas of the Maritimes and overnight elsewhere.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. If you become stranded in a vehicle do not leave. The vehicle offers a form of protection from the cold. A single person walking through the snow is harder to find than a stranded car or truck.

Blizzard Warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Stay up to date with Weatheradio or your local media. Email reports of severe weather to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or call 1-877-815-9900. You may tweet reports using the hashtag #NBStorm.
