A very intense low pressure system will track through northern Manitoba Wednesday. This system will bring very strong westerly winds with gusts of 90 km/h to the Westman regions beginning this evening. In addition, certain wind prone areas in the lee of the Duck and Riding Mountains are likely to get gusts of 110 km/h or stronger.

The extreme winds will abate Wednesday in the Westman areas as the low moves towards Ontario. However, very strong winds are likely in the Red River Valley and Interlake regions through the day on Wednesday.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
