Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Churchill

Blizzard conditions with poor visibility in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

Strong northwest winds 40 km/h gusting 60 km/h will result in blizzard conditions developing later this afternoon and continue tonight. Extreme wind chills near -50 are also expected tonight. Blizzard should end Saturday morning and extreme wind chills will end near noon Saturday.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Limit outdoor activities. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Blizzard Warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.
